Bribery charges against public servants

The Bribery Commission has taken in for questioning 13 public servants on the alleged bribery charges. Among those nabbed by the Bribery Commission officials, and 4 police officers, a school principal, a grama niladhari. During the year 2014, the Bribery Commission had conducted 24 raids of which 12 have been finalised by now, a senior official of the Bribery Commission in Kurunegala said.

A Zonal Director of Education A. Dassanayake in Kurunegala said that over 46 complaints have been received against school principals for allegedly accepting bribery or donations to admit children to popular schools in Kurunegala and Puttalam.

These complaints now being investigated will result in strict disciplinary action being taken against the suspects of the allegations are substantiated and proved beyond doubt.
