Main suspect in Constable killing nabbed

The main suspect in the abduction of two Police Constables and later killing one,

in Kurunegala was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department in Teldeniya yesterday.

The suspect along with several others including three army deserters went missing since the abduction and looting a fuel station in Kurunegala two weeks ago.

The suspect is being detained by the CID for further investigation, Police Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said.

The two Constables attached to the Traffic Branch of the Kurunegala Police were abducted by a gang whilst on duty in the Badagamuwa area, one of whom was later tortured and shot dead by the abductors. The other Constable managed to flee for his life.
