Unhygienic hotels raided

The Akkaraipattu Municipal Council in a sudden inspection of hotels and eating houses closed one hotel and legal action would be taken against two hotels for not conforming to the required standard in relasing their waste water, Municipal Commissioner A. L. M.Azmi said.This raid took place under the Municipal Commissioner A.L.M. Azmi accompanied by Municipal MOH, Dr. M.M. Remance, Municipal Engineer A.M. Zahir, RDA, Executive Engineer K.L.M. Ismail, Akkaraipattu police station, Environmental Division Sub Inspectors R.H. Samantha, J.M. Bandara, Central Environmental Officials, PHIs, and relevant officials.Some eating houses and tea boutiques within the Akkaraipattu Municipal area are non-hygienic.

They used to let the used water (dirty water) to the drain bordering the main road which gives bad smell. The stagnated water in the drain breed dengue mosquitoes.

The hotel owners have been repeatally informed of the unhealthy condition of their eating houses and hotels in writing as well.

Those owners of hotels and eating houses have been informed of the municipal council with regard to sanitation and maintenance of hygienic condition in the hotels, said Municipal Commissioner A.L.M. Azmi.
