Mahamaya swimmers maintain their supremacy

Mahamaya College, Kandy continued its winning streak stamping its
unbeaten supremacy since 2002 at the National Age Group Relay
Championships 2014 concluded at the Sugathadasa Stadium yesterday. St.
Joseph's College regained its lost championships from last year to
emerge the Boys Champions followed by Royal College as runners-up in the
Swimming Relay Championship held at the Sugathadasa Stadium, Colombo
yesterday.
Forty-two schools competed in a day full of relay events comprising
4x50m Medley Relay and 4x50m Freestyle Relay for all age groups. As per
the new Education Ministry ruling the championships was determined from
the performances in the under 15, under 17 and under 19 age groups while
the relay teams in the under 11 and under 13 age groups swam to achieve
a prescribed qualifying standard.
Josephians accumulated 103 points ahead of runners-up Royal College
Colombo's 84 points. The third place was secured by Trinity College
Kandy with 53 points.
Mahamaya College, recorded their consecutive 12th win in the girls
relay championship with 136 points while the Musaeus College became
second with 76 points. Visakha Vidyalaya made 57 points for the third
place. |
