Ernie Kelaart – wonderful figures 6/67 against Australia
The second match that Sir Bonaland Bradman played in Sri Lanka. It
was against Ceylon.
This was Bradman’s second match and it played on April 3rd 1930 at
the Colombo Cricket Club grounds.
Australia made 233 with Sir Donald Bradman making 40 and he was out
hit wicket to Ceylon’s Neil Joseph for 40. W.H. Ponaford was top scorer
with 62, having opened opened the batting while the other opening
batsman Stan Macabe made 20 and W.M. Woodful made 54.
Ernie Kelaart had the best bowling figures of 6 for 67 for Ceylon
having bowled 29.5 overs
Ceylon made 52 one wicket, with W.T. Brindley making 13, while M.K.
Albert made 25 and L.D.S. Gunasekera 14, both being not out.
