St. Thomas’ and Vijaya College, joint Champs

Matale Schools once again displayed their dominance at hockey when St. Thomas’ College Matale and Vijaya College, Matale figured in a scoreless draw to emerge joint champions at the All-Island Schools boys under 19 hockey tournament organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Hockey Association and played for 3 days at Vadukoddai Central College ground, Vadukoddai.

Three schools from Matale entered the semi finals and the fourth being Royal College Colombo. Name of the Kandy Schools could manage a berth in the last four.

Matale Thomians who were the defending champions, did not find it easy in the final against a determined Vijaya College who fortified their defence to prevent their opponents from scoring.
