IGP N. K. Illangakoon |
IGP N. K. Illangakoon has informed all police stations to closely
liaise with banks, financial institutions and other business enterprises
in their jurisdictions and review and augment security measures in the
establishments.
This direction has been sent, consequent to a meeting organised by
the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) recently to brief members, on how
to minimise risks to businesses by adopting proper security measures.
In a letter addressed to the Secretary General of the Chamber, Harin
Maltwatte, the IGP assured the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and its
membership of police assistance in this regard.
At the meeting organised by the Chamber, DIG Ajith Wickramasekara
outlined what business entities should do to minimise the potential
security risks they face.
The Chamber has informed members to contact the Officer-In-Charge of
the police station in the area where the firm is located.
The move by the Chamber and the police to hold a seminar came
following the spate of crimes which took place recently, targeting
business firms such as banks and financial institutions. |
