Abans to launch e-waste Management Week
Abans with the Central Environmental Authority will launch the
E-Waste Management Week tomorrow. They have also organised an e-waste
collection centre at Campbell Park, Borella on May 28 to mark National
E-Waste Management Week. The public are invited to drop their e-waste at
the collection centre after 11.00 am.
The event is aimed at encouraging the public to dispose e-waste in a
manner that will not pollute the environment.
Cleantech (Pvt) Limited, a member of the Abans Group, will conduct
islandwide e-waste management awareness programs. Cleantech invites
businesses, organisations, government and public institutions to
register with them for free collection of e-waste on a regular basis.
AIA partners DFCC
AIA Insurance entered into a bancassurance agreement with DFCC Bank
and DFCC Vardhana Bank recently. The new partnership with AIA Insurance
will enable customers of both banks to obtain tailor-made Life insurance
solutions at selected branches.

NCCSL to host Issuer Awareness forum
The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) with the
Securities and Exchange Commission and the Colombo Stock Exchange will
host an Issuer Awareness forum themed 'Debentures: Capital without
collateral’ on Thursday from 9.30 a.m to 12.30 p.m at the National
Chamber auditorium, D. R. Wijewardene Mawatha, Colombo 10.
The forum will target the small and medium sector enterprises and
large enterprises to create awareness regarding capital growth of
enterprises and other alternative sources of financing with a host of
other benefits and also to facilitate medium to long-term financing
through the capital market.
Sampath seminars for Grade Five students
Sampath Bank launched its annual Pahe Sishyathwa seminar series for
children preparing to sit the Year Five Scholarship Examination in
August this year.Organised with Neth FM, to guide children and their
parents to meet this pivotal challenge in a holistic and healthy manner.
The seminars are designed to prepare a child’s mind-set for the
unique circumstance of facing a standardised, national examination for
the first time in their life, and coping with the pressures of post
examination results. All sessions are completely free of charge and open
for children islandwide.
Udappuwa Seylan Bank upgraded
Seylan Bank’s Udappuwa extension office at Division 6, Main Street,
Udappuwa was upgraded to a full-fledged branch recently. It was opened
by Deputy General Manager, Branches 1, Chithral de Silva. The branch was
upgraded to provide the Bank’s clients modern banking facilities.
Malwatte Plantations records Rs 402m PAT
Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC closed its financial year 2013 with a
record profit of Rs. 402 million after tax.
This is the second highest annual profit earned by the company during
its 21 years of trading.
All-time record prices were achieved by Uva Highlands and Sarnia
Estates managed by Malwatte.
Two hundred and thirty five top prices were received for various
grades sold at the weekly auctions in 2013.
MMBL opens Western Union branch at Kollupitiya
MMBL Money Transfer (Pvt) Ltd, the Principal Representative for
Western Union in Sri Lanka opened its fourth MMBL Money Master branch at
Galle Road, Kollupitiya recently.
