Botanical garden in Kilinochchi

The Government will set up a new botanical garden in Kilinochchi.

The Ministry of Botanical Gardens and Public Recreation is making arrangements according to the instructions of the Minister of Botanical Gardens and Public Recreation Jayaratne Herath.

The aim of this program is to develop eco-tourism and to improve the living standard of the rural sector. The project will help identify the bio-diversity of this region and conserve rare flowers and plants that are faced with extinction. The Ministry hopes to popularise horticulture and create job opportunities for the rural folk of that region, a senior official of the Ministry of Botanical Gardens and Public Recreation in Kurunegala told the Sunday Observer."
