The proposals that were approved at the National Conference of the National Freedom Front (NFF) were presented to President Mahinda Rajapakasa by NFF leader Wimal Weerawansa at Temple Trees yesterday. The President discussed the proposals with Weerawansa andsaid that he would further discuss with senior members of the SLFP. He said that he would not hesitate to take political and economic decisions that would benefit the country. Prof. Mohan Munasinghe, who shared the 2007 Nobel Prize for Peace, was recently felicitated by President Danilo Medina of the Dominican Republic, while accepting his widely recognised book on ‘Sustainomics'. President Medina sought the advice of Prof. Munasinghe on how to rehabilitate and clean up the heavily polluted Ozama River which flows through the capital city of Santo Domingo. Prof. Munasinghe is the Chairman, Munasinghe Institute for Development (MIND), Colombo, KIVA Professor of Sustainable Development at Darmstadt University, Germany and a guest professor at the Peking University, China.
