Colombo Uni. undergrad hacked to death

A 22 -year-old female student attached to the Faculty of Arts of the University of Colombo was found hacked to death by an unidentified assailant in Elpitiya last morning.

The victim identified as Dimasha Gayanika Trimana was a resident of Talgaswala in Elpitiya, Police Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said.

Her body was found lying near the Elpitiya bus stand around 6.00am yesterday by the people in the town who informed the police.

Severe gashes were visible all over her body and is believed to have been made by a sharp blade.

Elpitiya Acting Magistrate Janaka Ruwanpura conducted the magisterial inquiry and ordered the corpse to be transferred to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital for the post mortem.

Elpitiya Police conducting investigations arrested a man on suspicion who is believed to be the victim's boyfriend.
