Shah re-elected CCC chairman

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) will launch a program to help build 'peace and harmony' in the country, its Chairman Suresh Shah told members at its 175th AGM held recently at its premises.

Shah was re-elected for a second year.

"I call upon the private sector to contribute at least a part of their CSR funds towards a program that we will taken islandwide to create peace and harmony in society," said Shah.

The CCC's latest move comes following the recent incidents in Aluthgama.

"This is extremely unfortunate and I don't think we need to point an accusing finger at any one, because at the end of the day, if there is unrest in our society, I think all of us need to take responsibility," he said.
