Chilaw gets ready for annual pageant

Annual Nikini perahera of historic Eswara Kovil of Munneswaram in Chilaw will be held from August 12 to September 10 on a grand scale. The Kap Planting Ceremony will be held on August 12, at 12 noon.

The Fire walking ceremony will be September 3 Water-cutting ceremony would be held on the September 8 at 12 noon at Deduruoya as usual. Millions of devotees from all parts of Sri Lanka and India would take part in the festival this year too. Around 2000 police personnel would be deployed during the month-long festive season to ensure the safety of pilgrims.

All facilities for pilgrims would be provided by the Chilaw Urban Council.
