Sri Lanka’s first ever clay museum set up
by the Western Province Industrial Authority at the Clay
Industrial Zone, Biyagama was opened by Western Province
Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunga recently. The project
which costs at Rs. 4.7 million was a concept of the Western
Province Industrial Minister Udaya Gammanpila.

Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo, Singithi Rangum held at the
Jeremias Dias auditorium recently. Here Ms. Premachandra is

An executive attached to the Associated
Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd, Rajitha Nirosha was honoured
recently, by the Social Services Welfare Association, at the
BMICH in recognition of his services to the society. The
scroll was presented by the Presidential Project Secretary
Prof. Dr. Jayampathi Warnasena Dissanayake.
The Military and the police joined in the
dengue campaign organised by the Health Ministry in
collaboration with the Colombo Municipal Council to clear
potential dengue breeding places within Colombo city
yesterday. The campaign with participants from the CMC and
Public Health Inspectors among others covered Fort, Maradana
and Dematagoda Raiway Stations and also the land belonging
to the Railway's Department. The Health Ministry will move
on to Maradana and Borella on July 8 and later to Kirulapone

Former President Ranasinghe Premadasa's
21st death anniversary was commemorated by the U.L.M. Farook
Foundation at Roshana Hall, Kannattota recently. Nutritious
bags of food were distributed among needy expectant mothers
in the area to mark the occasion. Here Sabaragamuwa
Provincial Councillor Sujith Perera presents a bag to a
recipient. Sabaragamuwa PC Opposition Leader Dr. Thusitha
Wijemanne, former State Minister of Transport U.L.M. Farook
and Sabaragamuwa Provincial Councillor Nihal Farook were
also present.
The Kolonnawa Divisional Secretariat
together with the Kolonnawa Urban Council launched a program
to ensure harmony, solidarity and stabilise peace between
the Sinhalese and the Muslims in the area recently. The
inaugural meeting was held at the Kolonnawa Jumma mosque.
