Dear children,

The month of July is known as Esala in the Buddhist calendar. Many Esala peraheras are held during this month. We carry a description of the Esala festival elsewhere on our pages. The Kandy perahera is a wonderful sight with all the caparisoned elephants and troupes of Kandyan dancers. It is one event which should be seen at least once. The perahera parades the streets for about 15 days. Many locals and tourists throng Kandy during this time to have a glance at the perahera.
