SLT partners Dalada Maligawa ICT project

Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) inked an agreement with the Sri Dalada Maligawa to be the telecommunication partner of the temple.

The MoU was signed at the Sri Dalada Maligawa by SLT, Chief Regional Officer, Chinthaka Wijesooriya and Sri Dalada Maligawa, Director, Media and Special Projects, Krishantha Hiswella.

The company will provide consistent, uninterrupted high-speed internet services to the temple premises, and an IPTV (internet protocol television) connection via LT PEO TV under the agreement,



 


Mobitel supports apparel sector

Mobitel has extended its support to one of Sri Lanka’s largest worker welfare programs, Ransalu Pranaama, which has entered its third phase with the help of several popular consumer brands, to motivate and retain the 350,000 strong labour force of the apparel sector.

It is supported by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and endorsed by the industry’s supervisory body, the Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF). Mobitel is the first mobile network to implement the state-of-the-art NFC Smart Card Loyalty platform, mLoyalty.



 


LECO joins Singer Express Pay

Singer (Sri Lanka) PLC recently formed a partnership with Lanka Electricity Company (Pvt) Ltd. (LECO) and Singer Express Pay, the bill payment facility provided by Singer.

The advantage of the partnership between Singer and LECO is that LECO customers can settle their bills through Singer’s islandwide retail network.

Singer Express Pay is a streamlined bill collection facility that nelps settle living expenses by visiting multiple service providers.



 


DFCC Bank bags award

DFCC Bank bagged the Toasmasters Golden Gavel Plus Award at the Toastmasters International Convention in Goa, India recently.

This award is given in recognition of a club’s outstanding achievements in communication and leadership, having fulfilled stipulated goals set by Toastmasters International.

President, DFCC Toastmasters, Shan Heenkenda said, “We are proud and delighted to receive this award, and strongly believe in the significance of Toastmasters as a powerful program for developing future leaders.”


ComBank opens branch at Nawinna

The Commercial Bank of Ceylon has opened a branch at the Arpico Supercentre at Nawinna, extending its services to visitors of this popular shopping complex.

Visitors to Arpico Supercentre previously enjoyed access to an ATM machine from the Bank and will now enjoy many other banking services with the opening of a branch at the premises.


Union Assurance fetes achievers

Union Assurance held an awards festival recently to celebrate a year of achievements and teamwork. The theme of the celebrations was 'The Stars of the Challenge'. Around 181 awards were presented to the best performing people and teams.

Chanaka Appuhamy and Eric Upashantha, won the coveted Champion of Champions titles for their outstanding performance for Life and the General sectors while Udan Silva won the award for Best National New Business Producer (Life).


Seminar on 'Ports and shipping industry'

A seminar on 'Ports, Shipping Industry, Issues and the way forward' will be held at the National Chamber of Commerce auditorium on Wednesday from 2.30 to 5.00 p.m. The keynote speaker will be Sri Lanka Ports Authority Chairman Dr Priyath B. Wickrama. The other guest speakers will be Director General of Customs and Director General of Merchant Shipping.

There will be a panel discussion where many issues connected with the shipping industry would be taken up so that participants will get a better understanding of the status of the industry.





 


PLC marks World Blood Donors’ Day

The Sports and Welfare Society of PLC organised an islandwide blood donation campaign in Colombo, Kandy, Anuradhapura, Bandarawela, to mark World Blood Donor Day and the 18th anniversary of People’s Leasing and Finance PLC (PLC). The theme of the blood donation campaign was 'Donate a Drop of Blood to Save a Life'. Staff members of the PLC group voluntarily participated and donated blood to save the lives of patients. PLC CEO and General Manager D. P. Kumarage opened the campaign by lighting the oil lamp.
