Inflation curtailed to a minimum:
Govt trebled per capita income
Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa said the Government has
fast-tracked its development program by trebling per capita income and
improving the country’s finances.
He told our sister paper Silumina that the economy has been made
stable so that the level of poverty could be minimised and jobs provided
for almost 96 percent.
Today the rate of unemployment has been reduced to a mere four
percent.
The Government has progressively brought down the per capita debt
percentage which had exceeded 100 percent during the previous UNP
regimes.
The positive economic indices are a result of the Government’s sound
economic management policies, the minister said.
The Government’s development priorities have contributed to improve
the people’s economy having curtailed inflation to a minimum in the
country’s history.
The Minister said that President Mahinda Rajapaksa had ensured that
people were relieved of the burden of development and nobody could
reverse the country’s economic forward march spearheaded by the
Government. |
