Veggie cultivation in Wayamba, a success

The vegetable cultivation in the Kurunegala district has been a success. Farmers have taken to vegetable cultivation as paddy cultivation in the dry zone failed.

The success in vegetable cultivation in Bingiriya, Yapahuwa Nikaweratiya, Galgamuwa and Panduwasnuwara is largely due to the directive by the Extention devision of the Wayamba Agriculture Department.

In addition to vegetable the subsidiary food crops such as cowpea, green-gram, ginger too have been grown.

Many farmers in these areas have obtained sprayers and two wheel tractors under the bank loan schemes. Farmers can earn around Rs. 50,000 from an acre from this harvest.
