Call to cease Israeli aggression in Gaza
The Sri Lanka Committee for Solidarity with Palestine has invited
representatives of the country's major political parties for a public
meeting on Tuesday, July 22 at 3.30 pm at the Library Services
Auditorium, Colombo to jointly condemn the mass killing of civilians,
denounce the double standards of the major powers in the international
community in upholding human rights, demand freedom for Palestine and
its people from decades of illegal occupation and oppression.
Sri Lanka, for over a half a century, with the overwhelming majority
of the international community has stood by calls for freedom for the
Palestinian people and their right to resist an illegal occupation and
oppression.
As of 2013, Israel had been condemned in 45 resolutions by the United
Nations Human Rights Council since its creation in 2006 - the Council
had resolved more resolutions condemning Israel than on the rest of the
world combined. The meeting will be presided over by Co-Presidents of
the Sri Lanka Committee for Solidarity with Palestine, Athauda
Seneveiratne and Imthiaz Bakeer Markar. |
