Moors in innings win over CCC

A superb spell of bowling by Moors skipper Shehan Jayasooriya who had a match bag of nine wickets for 60 helped them to beat Colombo Cricket Club by an innings and 22 runs in their Under-23 match which concluded at CCC grounds yesterday.

CCC replying to Moors total of 297, were bundled out for 104 runs with off spinner Jayasooriya (5 for 44) and Pradeep Ananda (3 for 23) doing the damage.

Following on, the lads from Maitland Crescent fared a little better to make 171 due to two stubborn knocks by Lasith Abeyratne (70) and Chathuranga Kumara (51) but could not prevent Moors from winning by an innings with once again Shehan Jayasooriya capturing four for 16 to give a match-bag of nine wickets for 60.

Moors: 297 all out in 88.3 overs (Kaushalya Gajasinghe 101, Oshadha Fernando 55, Ruwinda Shamen 53, Shehan Jayasooriya 21, Ruwantha Kellapotha 20, Chathuranga Kumara 4-46, Madhuka Liyanapathiranage 4-75)

CCC: 104 all out in 87 overs (Maduka Liyanapathiranage 29, Hashan Dumindu 20, Shehan Jayasooriya 5-44, Pradeep Ananda 3-23) and 171 all out in 39.5 overs (Lasith Abeyratne 70, Chathuranga Kumara 51, Shehan Jayasooriya 4-16, Pradeep Ananda 2-28, Ruwinda Shamen 2-40)

NCC have it easy

NCC romped home to an easy innings and 10-run win over Sri Lanka Ports Authority in their match which concluded at Maitland Place yesterday.

Ports Authority were bundled out for 87 runs in their first innings with Sri Lanka A player Tharindu Kaushal being the main wrecker with four wickets for 36 runs. They fared better in the second innings to make 216 but could avoid defeat. Yashan Shanuka made a fighting knock of 51 for SLPACC. Former Anthonian Saranga Rajaguru captured three for 20 for the homesters.

NCC: 313 all out in 65.1 overs (Sandun Weerakkody 99, Saranga Rajaguru 78, William Bossisto 60, Pavan Wickramasinghe 59, Anuk de Alwis 6-155, Aravinda Premaratne 2-98)

Ports Authority: 87 all out in 43.3 overs (Prashan Wickramasinghe 22, Tharindu Kaushal 4-36, Saveen Nanayakkara 3-24, Saranga Rajaguru 2-7) and 216 all out in 59.1 overs (Yashan Shanuka 51, AK Tyronne 35, Saranga Rajaguru 3-20, Saveen Nanayakkara 2-38, Tharindu Kaushal 2-85)

Moratuwa have the edge over Army

Moratuwa SC who were dissmissed for modest 195, hit back to bundle out Army for 115 runs with Thenuka Dhananjaya taking five for 42 runs, ably supported by Krishan Weeraratne (3 for 35).

Moratuwa in their second innings, made 156 which setting Army a victory target of 237 runs. And the soldiers were 55 for 2 in their second innings. Still needing another 182 runs.

Moratuwa CC: 195 all out in 68.5 overs (Shanuka Dulaj 60, Hashan Chamara 38, Deshan Dias 23, Shehan de Silva 6-49, Sachintha Peiris 2-16) and 156 all out in 45 overs (Sachin Dalpadadu 37, Hashan Chamara 35, Deshan Dias 21, Krishan Weeraratne 22, Yohan de Silva 2-21, Shehan de Silva 2-34)

Army: 115 all out in 49.4 overs (Leo Francisco 27, Yohan de Silva 20, Thenuka Dhananjaya 5-42, Krishan Weeraratne 3-35, Sahan Nanayakkara 2-17) and 55-2 in 19 overs (Lakshitha Madushan 22 n.o, Chemila Obeysekara 2-13)

Navy in the lead

Negombo CC took a first innings lead of 44 runs over Navy in their match which continued at Kadirana yesterday.

Navy: 164 all out in 46.3 overs (Avishka Peiris 42, Madhura Madusanka 3-54, Nilochana Perera 2-18, Malshan Gunasinghe 2-46, Kalkara Sineth 2-12) and 190 all out in 41 overs (Kalhara Peiris 43, Akash Senarath 34, Ishan Abeysekara 27, Kalhan Sineth 3-28, Malshan Gunasinghe 3-59)

Negombo CC: 208 all out 60.2 overs (Shihan Dilasri 39, Pasindu de Silva 31, Malshan Gunasinghe 27, Nilochana Perera 23, Akil Inham 22, Kalhara Peiris 4-27, Sameera Sandamal 4-37) and 31-3 in 17 overs

First innings honours for Bloomfield

Three half centuries from Damith Priyadarshana (78), Charitha Kumarasinghe (60) and Thilaksha Sumanasiri (62) helped Bloomfield to gain a slender first innings lead of 17 runs in thier match against Tamil Union which continued at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Tamil Union in their second innings, made 188 for 5, helped by a fine knock of 83 by former Thurstan and former Sri Lanka Under-19 player Minhaj Jaleel.

Tamil Union: 248 all out in 67.5 overs (Pulina Tharanga 73 n.o, Minhaj Jaleel 71, Manoj Sarathchandra 34, Imran Khan 3-55, Koshan Jayawickrama 3-72) and 188-5 in 48 overs (Minhaj Jaleel 83, Pabasara Waduge 30, Ron Chandraguptha 32 n.o, Shaluka Silva 2-23, Koshan Jayawickrama 2-63)

Bloomfield: 265 all out in 59.4 overs (Damith Priyadarshana 78, Charitha Kumarasinghe 60, Thilaksha Sumanasiri 62, Pramod Liyanagamage 3-27, Pulina Tharanga 3-77, Shifran Muthaliph 2-27)).
