'Lankapack 2014' showcases packaging excellence
The Sri Lanka Institute of Packaging (SLIP) with MP Events Lanka
organised the 'Lankapack 2014' exhibition at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike
Exhibition Centre recently.
The exhibition showcased the vast potential of Sri Lanka's packaging
industry and unveiled the latest products to a growing international
clientele. It was organised by SLIP, the key organisation representing
the Sri Lankan packaging industry and its 'technical arm', the Packaging
Development Centre.
"Colombo has been the main centre where suppliers of state-of-the-art
packaging equipment exhibit their products to a receptive target market
at international packaging exhibitions of this nature," said Chairman of
Lankapack'14 Organising Committee and the Chairman of the Packaging
Development Centre, Dharmatilake Ratnayake.
"Sri Lanka which is totally dependent on imported raw materials and
equipment for packaging, has over the past three decades, mastered the
art of adding value to the products.
"Locally produced quality export products are seen all over the
world," he said.
President of the Sri Lanka Institute of Packaging, Dudley
Thambinayagam said, "Being perhaps the oldest packaging industry
association in South East Asia, SLIP has a history dating back to more
than three decades of improving the standards of Sri Lankan packaging to
the highly competitive position it enjoys today."
"Promotional exhibitions portraying local packaging developments and
technical advances in the developed world have been held with regional
and global giants in the field of packaging," he said.
The Sri Lanka Institute of Packaging was set up in 1975.
Being an active member of the Asian Packaging Federation, SLIP had
called upon its member countries such as China, India, Indonesia,
Malaysia and Thailand to promote their manufacturers of raw materials
and machinery to exhibit at Lankapak 2014.
MP Events Lanka, a subsidiary of Pico, has organised over 250
exhibitions over the past 18 years. MP Events Lanka is an accredited
professional exhibition organiser and an active member of MICE promotion
spearheaded by the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau under the aegis of the
Ministry of Tourism. |
