School uniform material from local manufacturers

The Ministry of Education Services has estimated that Rs. 1,840,639,050 is needed to print free text books for students for the academic year 2015.

Three hundred an fifty one varieties of free text books would be printed and 29,115,800 copies of text books will be printed.

The Senior Zonal Director of Education in Kurunegala, J. Jayasundera. He was addressing the school heads of the NWP at the Kurunegala Provincial Council auditorium.

The Ministry hopes to print the text books in 22 printing presses.

The Ministry of Education Services will buy the total requirements of free school uniform materials from local textile manufacturers for the next year and 8,571,000 metres of uniform material and 300,000 metres of material for robes will be donated to novice monks who study at 750 pirivenas countrywide would be purchased locally to be distributed among students in government schools and pirivenas, said the Senior Zonal Director.
