Move to solve shortage of English teachers

NWP chief Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara will recruit 100 Higher National Diploma holders in English to overcome the acute shortage of English teachers in remote government schools in Puttalam and the Kurunegala Districts.

The Chief Minister told the recent monthly meeting of the NWP-PC in Kurunegala that National English Diploma Holders in the NWP would be employed in remote government, schools and the names of those qualified Diploma holders have already been sent to the NWP Provincial Public Service Commission.

He said so in response to a question raised by the NWP Opposition Leader J.C. Alawathuwala PC.
