'Voice Cantando 2014' at Musaeus on Aug 1
"Voice Cantando 2014", a musical extravaganza performed by the
Western Choir of Musaeus College will be held on August 1 from 6.00 p.m.
at the Peter De Abrew Memorial auditorium. 91 students from the Grades 8
to 12 will perform at the concert.
Paata Wessa in Giriulla from Aug 3
'Paata Wessa' (Colour rain), an exhibition of paintings, photography,
artificial flowers, make-ups, patchwork, paper quilling will be held
from August 3 to 10 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Bogahayaya Drama
School, Giriulla.
The event is organised by the Palitha Lokupothagama Drama School,
Giriulla.
Lectures on art, music, education, psychology cinema and toxic-free
food will also be delivered by a group of competent people.
Appeal for O+ kidney
Forty-three-year-old Sumudu Kalpa Wickramarachchi of Madapatha is at
End Stage renal failure, Consultant Nephrologist Dr. Surjit Somiah of
the Lanka Hospitals has recommended immediate kidney transplant.
The patient appeals for a O+ kidney from a kind donor, within the
purview of the Tissue Transplantation Act of Sri Lanka.

Mal pooja at Ruwanweliseya
An Atapirikara and a Dahaspethiya mal pooja organised by the Sri
The Lanka Kalyana Mithra Foundation and the Sihasuna Surakeeme
Sanvidanaya will be held at the Ruwanweliseya on August 2.
Alms will be offered to 1,000 bhikkhus during the pirith chanting
followed by religious observances and discourses.
Annual Seenigama Festival from July 31
The 47th annual Esala Festival of the historic Sri Devol Maha
Devalaya of Seenigama will commence on July 31 with the "Kap Situweema"
ceremony.
The perahera will start on September 1 and conclude on September 6.
GCE A/L exams from Aug 5 to 29
The GCE Advanced Level examination 2014 will be held from August 5 -
29 in 2120 centres islandwide. According to the Examinations Department
234,197 schools and 62,116 private candidates will sit for the exam this
