No postal vote for public sector workers

The voters of Uva province who are serving in public sector offices in other areas will not be entitled to postal vote, a release from the Elections Department stated. It said such public officers should apply for leave on the election day.

The Section 123 of the Provincial Council Elections Act of 1988 have given them right to apply for special leave to cast their vote.

The applications from those entitled to vote by post at the Uva Province PC polls will be entertained till August 6. The deadline will not be extended under any circumstances., the release stated
