Inter-club Under-23 Division I Cricket Tournament:

Ravindu (match bag of 9/63) bowls NCC to innings win

Thomian left arm leg spinner Ravindu Tillekeratne hada match-bag of nine wickets for 63 to bowl NCC to an innings and 156-run win over Army in their Under-23 Division One match, which concluded at NCC grounds yesterday.

Army replying to NCC's total of 400-8 declared, were bundled out for 100 runs with Ravindu Tillekeratne 4 for 24 and Tharindu Kaushal 4 for 29 doing the damage.

Following on, the soldiers fared a little better to make 146 runs with Ravindu Tillekeratne (5 for 24) and former Sri Lanka Youth player Saranga Rajaguru (5 for 29) being the wreckers.

NCC: 400-8 dec in 79.5 overs (Pavan Wickramasinghe 182, Lahiru Udara 86, Nadeeka de Mel 3-83, Shehan de Silva 2-105)

Army: 100 all out in 38.1 overs (Ravindu Tillekeratne 4-24, Tharindu Kaushal 4-29) and 144 all out in 52 overs (Leo Francisco 34, Ravindu Tillekeratne 5-39, Saranga Rajaguru 5-38)

Yohan - Navy's hero

The Sri Lanka Navy helped by fine bowling performance by St Benedic't skipper Yohan Zoysa, who had a match-bag of eight wickets for 42 runs beat Air Force by 26 runs in a low scoring match, which concluded at Welisara yesterday.

He was well supported by Akash Senaratne who also bowled well to finish with a match-bag of seven wickets for 87 runs to give the Sailors a deserving win.

Navy: 134 all out in 38.3 overs (Sameera Sandamal 51, Avishka Peiris 26, Lahiru Jayakody 21, Dushan Vimukthi 4-26, Malith de Silva 3-41, Pramod Chathuranga 2-16) and 134 all out in 42.1 overs (Avishka Peiris 40, Malith de Silva 4-38, Pramod Chathuranga 3-38, Dushan vimukthi 3-49)

Air Force: 116 all out in 26.2 overs (T Nadeera 40, Malith de Silva 20, Akash Senaratne 4-44, Yohan Zoysa 4-12, Ashan Ranasinghe 2-37) and 126 all out in 48 overs (Kelum Nanayakkara 38, Yohan Zoysa 4-30, Avishka Senaratne 3-43).

Bold reply by Bloomfield

Bloomfield made a bold reply to make 322 for eight wickets against Ragama CC, who got 461 all out in their high scoring match at Braybrooke Place yesterday.

Bloomfield were helped by a gallant knock of Rukshan Weerasinghe, who remained unbeaten on 98, despite a fine spell of bowling by former Sebastianite Amila Aponso, who captured five for 98.

Ragama CC: 461 all out in 102.2 overs (Dhananjaya de Silva 227, Shiran Ratnayake 85, Tharindu Ratnayake 4-105, Imran Khan 3-113)

Bloomfield: 322-8 in 75 overs (Rukshan Weerasinghe 98 n.o, Charitha Kumarasinghe 59, Himasha Liyanage 55, Amila Aponso 5-98, Dhananjaya de Silva 2-58)

Vain effort by Nilochana

Despite a fine knock of 86 by former Peterite Nilochana Perera, Negombo CC fell short by 54 runs on the first innings in their match against SSC played at Bloomfield grounds yesterday.

SSC in their second innings, had made 61 for 2 by the close to give them an overall lead of 115 runs with eight wickets in hand.

SSC: 280 all out in 71.3 overs (Dasun Shanaka 71, Kavindu Kulasekara 61, Minod Bhanuka 45, Sheshan Madusanka 4-49, Malshan Munasinghe 3-60) and 61-2 in 19 overs (Minod Bhanuka 31 n.o, Dasun Shanaka 25 n.o, Kalhan Tineth 2-15).

Negombo CC: 226 all out in 85 overs (Nilochana Perera 86, Malshan Gunasinghe 41, Malinga Gunaratne 31, Binura Fernando 3-40, Kasun Madusanka 2-39, Kavindu Kulasekara 2-5)

Maduka helps CCC

Colombo Cricket Club helped by a fine bowling performance by former Lumbini and Sri Lanka Under-19 player Maduka Liyanapathiranage who took six wickets for 57 runs helped them to gain a first inning lead of 81 runs in their match against Colts at CCC grounds yesterday.

Colts, despite a fine century by Aruna Dharmasena (108) and Sri Lanka Under-19 player Sadeera Samarawickrama (84), who were involved in an opening stand of 122 runs, fell short by 81 runs as the middle order batsmen failed to consolidate.

CCC: 364 all out in 89 overs (Hashan Dumindu 108, Maduka Liyanapathiranage 79, Lasith Abeyratne 66, Charith Sudaraka 3-84, Hasitha Fernando 2-47, Akila Dhananjaya 2-110) and 50-2 in 12 overs (Akila Dhananjaya 2-22)

Colts: 283 all out in 73 overs (Aruna Dharmasena 108, Sadeera Samarawickrama 84, Maduka Liyanapathiranage 6-57, Chathuranga Kumara 2-72)
