'Lanka, a vital business partner for Belarus'
An 18-member business delegation from Belarus held B2B meetings with
the Sri Lankan business community at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce
recently.
Belarusian Ambassador for India Vitaly Prima said that Sri Lanka is
one of the important partners for Belarus in Asia.
He said, Sri Lanka's Exporters can focus on sending garments, rubber
gloves and ceramic products to Belarus, apart from tea, which is the
island's major export item to that country. Sri Lanka primarily imports,
fertiliser, chemicals and machinery from Belarus.
Acting Secretary General of the Ceylon Chamber, Mrs Alikie Perera
said the Chamber will provide its fullest support to build trade,
investment and tourism ties between the two nations.
She said, the CCC will work with the Minsk Department of the Belarus
Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which organised the delegation to Sri
Lanka.
Last year, a Belarusian team visited the Ceylon Chamber and following
which the CCC signed an MoU with the Minsk Department of the Belarus
Chamber of Commerce and Industry to promote trade, tourism and
investment between the two nations.
"We have invited all our MoU partners to organise business promotion
missions to Sri Lanka during 2014, as the year also marks the 175th
anniversary of the Chamber," said Mrs. Alikie Perera. |
