Plea to register unmarried couples

There is a large number of unmarried couples in the Kurunegala district, according to a survey carried out by a team of voluntary social service workers in the district.

As a result some cages of children's birth certificates are not filled.

This is a social stigma for the children, a spokesman for the team said. Steps should be taken to register all unmarried couples in the district, he said.
