The 13th Session of the Regional Committee on the Recognition of Qualifications in Higher Education in Asia and the Pacific, in conjunction with the Regional Workshop on Quality Assurance in Higher Education was held recently at the Hotel Galadari, Colombo with participation from 35 countries. Evans, Chairman CVCD, Prof. Ananda Jayawardena, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, P. Ranepura and Additional Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education P.G. Jayasinghe were present.

The Mayor of Colombo A.J.M. Muzammil visited Shanghai, China recently and held discussions with Mayor of Shanghai Yang Xiong to further strengthen sister city relations pact between Colombo and Shanghai.

The Annual General Meeting and the elections of office-bearers of the Tagore Society of Sri Lanka was held yesterday at the Indian Cultural Centre. The First Secretary of the Indian High Commission Eesha Sriwathsawa was the chief guest. The keynote address was delivered by Kalakeerthi Dr. Edwin Ariyadasa.
