Sapirigama Model Village concept to benefit 48,000 families

The Rural Development Department of the NWP-PC has launched a program to develop 690 villages in the Kurunegala and Puttalam districts during the next five years under the Sapirigama model village program the selected 690 remote villages would be fostered socially, economically, and spiritually.

The program will be implemented under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Probation and Childcare, Rural Industries and Rural Development of the NWP-PC.

A sum of Rs. 1,690 million would be invested and 48,000 families would benefit from the program according to the Director of Rural Development Department M.R.M.S. Mallawarachchi.
