Uva province road network renovated
The Road Development Authority Uva Province Director A.L.M Nisar said
that 53 road development projects have been implemented while
constructing 21 bridges at a cost of Rs. 43,500 million.
He said that 60.31 kilometre road which link Moneragala with Ampara
district is being carpeted at a cost of Rs. 4,605 million. Forty percent
of initial development works in the province completed already.
This road goes through Bibile-Badalkumbura, Namal Oya-Inginiyagala
and once the works are over, the travel time to Ampara will reduce by
several hours, Nisar said. The Badulla-Karametiya Ulpatha road is being
developed. Ninety percent work of 47.98 kilometre long road is over now.
The development work of 24.10 kilometre long Mahiyangana-Dimbulagala
road has already been completed. Mahiyangana-Dimbulagala-Dalukkana road
is being developed at a cost of Rs. 5,020 million and 85 percent of work
has already been completed.
The development work of 9.13 kilometre long
Kandy-Mahiyangana-Padiyatalawa road and 20.50 kilometre along the same
road has already been completed, he said. Moves are under way to
construct 12 bridges to connect the villages with the towns in the
province, he said.
