Survey to set apart sanctuary lands in Udadumbara

The government will distribute the lands belonging to the Victoria, Randenigala, Rantambe Sanctuaries to those occupying them at present.

Surveying private lands in the Udadumbara divisional secretariat has been launched to identify the sanctuary lands.

Udadumbara Divisional Secretary M.G.A. Thilakarathna explained the objectives of this project to the land owners and added that the residents in the National Park area have faced many difficulties such as putting up new buildings, cutting trees and doing cultivation in their lands due to permits not being issued.

The new project will facilitate development works and help solve problems of the residents. The launch of the project is sequel to representing matters to President Mahinda Rajapaksa by the Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake.
