Gammanpila, unveils plans

Western Provincial Council, Agriculture, Environment, Art and
Cultural Minister Udhaya Gammanpila has been unanimously elected as the
Co-Chairman of the Network of Regional Governments for sustainable
Development of its 12th AGM which was held in Kartahena, Colombia
recently. The Minister said that he would make use of the post as the
co-chairman, to direct the real picture of our country.
Mostly, Europe and Latin American countries hold the membership of
this network.
The Minister said that the regional countries of this network voted
against Sri Lanka in the United Nations Human Rights Commission.
For the first time, the Co-Chairman post of the network has been
nominated to an Asian country. The post has been provided to Sri Lanka
Western Provincial Council on behalf of the developing countries.
The Minister thanked President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Foreign Minister
G.L. Pieris and Minister Susil Premajayantha for paving the way for him
to achieve this feat.
