The Tagore Society of Sri Lanka held a ceremony to felicitate Kalakeerti Edwin Ariyadasa, a life member of the Society on his being conferred the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) by the University of Kelaniya recently. A general meeting of the Sri Lanka Association of Australia Alumni was held recently at the Grand Oriental Hotel, Colombo, to register the Association as a limited company. Minister of Public Management Reforms, Navin Dissanayake was the chief guest. Australian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Ms. Robyn Mudie was the guest of honour.


The Local Government and Provincial Councils Minister A. L. M. Athaullah and other guests inaugurated the Vallakundu agricultural road development works at Kudakarai East Kandam in Addalaichenai DS Division recently. Eastern Province Road Development Irrigation Housing Construction Water Supply and Rural Electrification Minister M.S. Udumalebbe, Ministry Secretary A.H.M. Ansar, Ampara District Irrigation Director Engineer Saman Sriwardena, Divisional Secretary I.M. Haniffa, Farmer Organization President I.L. Thawfeek were also present.
