Hacking: CASL educates financial professionals

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CASL) conducted a seminar last week targeting financial professionals to educate them on the A to Z of hacking.

The seminar educated professionals on how to secure their financial data, while helping them understand if their company data has been hacked.

The program organised by Tech One Learning was conducted by Sumann Subramaniam, a professional in the discipline. He provided a detailed overview covering several important aspects including how hackers gain unauthorised access to data in a system or computer.

Subramaniam outlined counter measures, securing the environment they work in and how attackers behave and scan networks. There was a focus on popular social media networks such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn and the hacking vulnerabilities they possess.

The target group for the seminar were information security managers, IT and corporate security managers, corporate governance managers, risk and compliance teams, IT auditors and senior managers responsbile for IT governance of an enterprise.

Subramaniam is a Microsoft Certified Trainer and a Certified EC-Council Instructor. He is a graduate in software engineering and counts over nine years' experience in the field of training deliveries and facilitation.
