20th contingent to leave for Haiti

The 20th contingent of the Armed Forces from Sri Lanka to Haiti for International Peace keeping work will leave Sri Lanka on November 13, according to Army Media spokesman Brigadier Jayanath Jayaweera. Around 850 members of the Army, Navy and Air Force would comprise the team.

The passing-out ceremony of this troop will be held at the Kurunegala Army Training centre shortly.

Sri Lanka has sent the Armed Forces personnel to serve in Haiti under the International Peace-Keeping Forces Development project from 2004, a senior Army Officer said in Kurunegala recently.
