John Keells-MAS Active Trading in MCA Cricket final

After a lapse of 21 years, the Mercantile Cricket Association (MCA) will stage a Singer/MCA cricket league final when John Keells Group will meet MAC Active Trading in the 22nd Singer Mercantile Premier League Knock Out final at the MCA grounds today (Sunday).

Although the MCA grounds had a turf strip earlier, many finals were played in other venues. The 21 finals played so far were at R. Premadasa Stadium (the inaugural one in 1993,) and thereafter the finals played at the P. Sara Oval (7 times), SSC (5), NCC (3), Colombo Colts CC (4) and the Moratuwa Stadium (1).

Both teams could boast of a galaxy of young talent who are knocking at the door of representing the country. John Keells Group will be led by Test opener Dimuth Karunaratne and MAS Active Trading will be skippered by Sachitra Senanayake making a welcome return after rectifying his action.

Singer Sri Lanka Sales Director Kumar Samarasinghe will be the guest of honour at the opening ceremony and Mahesh Wijewardene - the Commercial and Marketing Director will be the chief guest at the post tournament awards ceremony.
