People's Leasing provides relief to landslide victims


PLC staff present water tanks to the affected community at Bodhirukkarama temple, Liyangahawela.

People's Leasing Company (PLC) branches at Badulla and Bandarawela provided relief for landslide-affected families, following a request of Divisional Secretary Rohana Keerthi Disanayake.

The the branch supplied utensils and other essential items to the Assistant Director, District Disaster Management Unit, Badulla, Udaya Kumara, to be distributed among the affected community who found shelter at secure points.

Following the landslide, the authorities ordered several hundred residents of nearby communities to evacuate due to the risk of further landslides.

Four Divisional Secretariats Ella, Haldummulla, Haputale and Bandarawela have been identified as locations which need relief items.

Staff of PLC Bandarawela visited Bodhirukkarama Temple in Liyangahawela the secure centre in the Bandarawela area.

The Chief Incumbent said that families who sought temporary shelter in the temple premises needed water facilities and asked for two water tanks to store water. In response the branch provided two 1,000 liter capacity water storage tanks to benefit the affected community.
