The Young Members Forum of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will hold a seminar on 'Ethical Use of Communications and Media'.

The seminar, which will be addressed by Deputy Director of Compliance at the Telecom Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka, Ms. Menaka H. Pathirana, will be held at the Chamber auditorium at Navam Mawatha on Friday at 4.30 pm.

Pathirana will speak on tackling unethical use of mobile phones, penalties imposed on offenders, safety tips for mobile users and related aspects. Pathirana, who has authored the book, Sundara Amathumak, highlighting social issues which crop up on a daily basis due to the unethical use of communications and media, said the problem is increasing rapidly.

"We get complaints daily from mobile users, who receive nuisance calls and SMSs to their phones," she said. According to her, people have to face numerous problems, owing to nuisance calls and SMSs and also lost phones and SIM cards.

She said that mobile phone users are also unaware of how to manage such situations.
