Sukomala Vatha:
A stylised drama at New Town Hall

A scene from the drama |
Ananda Senaratne's stylised drama Sukomala Vatha will be staged at
the New Town Hall on November 23 at 3.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m.
After half a decade from the inception of Maname and Sinhabahu, the
most interesting Kavya Shekaraya will be dramatised in the Naadagama
style in Sukomala Vatha. The director of Sukomala Vatha is probably the
only successor to Prof. Ediriwira Sarachchandra who is well-known for
his Naadagam style dramas such as Maname and Sinhabahu. Senaratne became
the National Award Winner for his first drama Panchalee which was a Sri
Lankan Naadagama (stylised drama) staged in 2006. He has done research
on Sri Lankan stylised drama.
