Govt spends Rs. 2.5 b for free school uniforms

The Education Services Ministry will provide free uniform material to students for 2015.

The Government has spent Rs. 2,500 million in this regard and four million students will receive free uniform material. Students of 10,012 schools in 98 educational zones countrywide would benefit.

"About 11.2 million metres of material would be distributed among students, before the end of this year.

All novice bhikkhus at 750 pirivenas islandwide too would be offered material for robes, said Director of Education Kurunegala B.M. Balasooriya at a meeting of Divisional Directors of Education of the Kurunegala District at Bingiriya MMV recently.
