Free seminar at SLIOP

The Sri Lanka Institute of Printing (SLIOP) has organised a workshop cum seminar on 'Graphic Design and Multimedia Education', on November 22 from 8.30 am to 2.30 pm at the Institute. The seminar will give an exposure and understanding of the use of essential graphic software packages, which will be a guide to leavers and other professionals. Mahindians '88 batch get-together

The '88 Batch' of Mahinda College Galle, has organised the annual get-together and dinner on Saturday November 29 at 7.00 p.m. at the VIP Lounge of the Galle International Cricket Stadium.

Moratuwa AMEEGOS will be in attendance.

Annual job fair 2014 on Nov 22

'Virekiyawen-Rekiyawakata', the annual job fair organised by the Mohan Lal Grero Foundation will be held on November 22 from 8.00 a.m. at Public Relations Office of Mohan Lal Grero Foundation, Nugegoda.

The job fair has been organised to introduce employers to academically and technically qualified job seekers in Colombo district. Entrance is free.


Arts Faculty's international confab

The Faculty of Arts, University of Colombo will hold an international conference on the theme 'Revisiting Social Responsibility in Contexts of Crisis: Challenges and Possibilities in Sri Lanka' on November 17, 18 in the Faculty premises.

The Conference will commence with the inauguration ceremony on November 17 at 8.30 am at the M.B. Ariyapala Auditorium of the Department of Sinhala, Faculty of Arts and the keynote speaker will be Prof. Abhijit Dasgupta of the University of Delhi and Prof. Sasanka Perera of the Southasian University, Delhi will be the guest speaker.


Prayers to mark President's B'day

Ahadiyyah School Borella has organised special prayers to mark President's birthday today November 16, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the Al Hijra Maha Vidyalaya Hall, Kuppiyawatte, Colombo 10.

Ministers, deputy Ministers, MPs, Buddhist, Hindu, Islam and Christian religious dignitaries with Ahadiyya Schools principals, students and parents will participate.


Thurstan OBA's 'Pahan pooja'

The 'Pahan pooja' organised by the Colombo Thurstan College Old Boys' Association to mark the President Mahinda Rajapaksa's birthday and to invoke blessings on him will be held on November 18 at 6.30 p.m. at the Gangaramaya, Colombo.

It is open to all old boys and their family members and the event is coordinated by Wasantha (0714170496) Vimal (0779361696).


Youth fined for having ganja

A youth (20) who had 260 grams of ganja was fined Rs. 17,500 by the Morawaka District judge Pavithra Sanjeewani Pathirana. The suspect was a resident of Paragala in Morawaka.


Japanese doll exhibition

The Embassy of Japan and the Galle Municipal Council has organised an unique exhibition "The Dolls of Japan" at the Galle Town Hall from to November 16 to 22, featuring traditional Japanese dolls of various kinds, which are among the distinct cultural symbols of Japan.

The expo will be open to the public on November 16 from 10.00 am to 6.00 p.m. and from Nov 17 to 22 from 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. And the entrance is free.
