Victoria Golf Course eyes Best Golf Course Award in Sub Continent

Victoria Golf and Country Resort will go on its quest for the
prestigious award the 'Best Golf course in the Sub-Continent' at the
ceremony organised by the Asian Golf Digest which will be held at Marine
Bay Hotel in Singapore today.
This is a prestigious award no doubt. Which will bring honour to Sri
Lanka and enhance its image as a golfing destination in the
Sub-continent. Though the final results will be announced at the
glittering awards ceremony, Victoria Golf and Country which has
dominated this competition is confident of retaining the title for yet
another year.
Victoria will be represented at this awards ceremony by its General
Manager Neroy Marso and Manager Marketing and Events Ms Dhanishka
Medagoda.
This competition was started in 2002 and since then Victoria has won
it 7 times and in other years, finished runner-up. With a record like
this, they should finish on top again.
Victoria is one of the biggest golf courses in Sri Lanka and the area
of the complete is 5.58 acres. It has won this competition even when it
was affected by a prolonged and worst hit droughts. It is ranked among
the 100 most beautiful golf courses in the world. It has been maintained
to PGA Standard and come in for high praise by world famous golfers as
eminent personalities.
It has upgrades its facilities regularly, including a prier for sea
planes to minimise the travelling time for golfers from Colombo to
Victoria. The other facilities include swimming pool, indoor games,
mountain bi-king pony riding, luxury accommodation, and a domestic
airport is also under construction.
