Over 12 million voters in Kurunegala district

Over 1,248,000 voters from the Kurunegala district are eligible to vote at the forthcoming Presidential elections on January 08, 2015. When compared to the last NWP Provincial Council elections, about 16,340 new voters have qualified to vote at Presidential elections 2015.

Over 920 polling stations would be set up in the Kurunegala District and 72,000 applications have been received for postal voting. More than 5,000 police personnel would be deployed in the Kurunegala and Puttalam districts of the NWP during the election campaign, said the Kurunegala District Secretary H.M.P. Hitisekara at a meeting held recently.
