IDB launches novel project

Industrial Development Board IDB will develop rural industries in 13
selected villages in the Kurunegala District. With this program,
manufacturing clay-related products would be introduced to Narammala,
Rukmale, Kumbukgete, Thiththawella, Rasnayakapura, Sudeeragama and
Singandaluwa villages.
Carpentry and smithery related products would be manufactured in
Nikaweratiya, Pinnapolegama and Kotawehera and Gurupokuna villages. In
addition, cashew nut, products would be manufactured in Unagolla
village. Kithul treacle and jaggery would be manufactured in
Kiribathgalla village in the Kurunegala district under this development
plan, 25,000 unemployed youth would find self-employment opportunities
while direct and indirect job opportunities would be created for
housewives.
Rs. 150 million would be invested in this massive development project
which will meet the national level productivity targets, said the former
Divisional Secretary for Bingiriya W.E. Jayathilaka at a meeting of
members of NYSCO clubs in the Kurunegala district held in Bingiriya
recently.
