Kannangara M.V. Galle and Maliyadeva clinch U. 15 soccer titles

C.W.W. Kannangara M.V. Galle and Maliyadeva Balika Vidyalaya, Kurunegala emerged champions in the boys section and girls section for the 4th consecutive year in the u. 15 Inter-School Football championship. "Samaposha" and Ceylon Biscuits Ltd were the sponsors.

There were over 8,500 students representing 313 boys' teams and 100 girls' teams from all over the island that participated in this year's event. The preliminary rounds took place in 30 venues across the island, covering all 25 districts including Jaffna, Vavuniya and Killinochchi.

The tournament was sponsored by Samaposha, the nation's trusted cereal that provides affordable nutrition for millions of Sri Lankans.

Awards were presented to the best goalkeeper as well and the most valuable male and female player of the tournament. Vishan Udayakumara of C.W.W. Kannangara MV, Galle won the award for the best goalkeeper boys category while Kavindiya Tharudini of Velapura MV, Kalutara was judged the best goalkeeper girls category. The most valuable male player award was won by Udara Sankalpana of CWW Kannangara College, Galle and the most valuable female player of the tournament was Gayathri Nanayakkara of Maliyadeva Girls College, Kurunegala.
