'Entire Parliament will be the Government'
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe elaborated on the government that
will be formed after the next general election.
He said that it would not only be a United National Party government.
Wickremesinghe said that everyone in Parliament should be a part of
the government after the next general election. The Prime Minister was
speaking at a felicitation ceremony at Royal College, Colombo to honour
its distinguished old boys.
"People have asked me whether I am going to form a UNP Government, a
UNP-SLFP Government or an anti Mahinda Government.
My answer is no. I want the entire Parliament to be the Government,"
Wickremesinghe said.
The Prime Minister said that Sri Lanka had lost much during the war
and during the five years since the end of the war and the government
has a duty to ensure the country has a better future. He said that he
has a challenge before him, and that challenge is to work with all
political parties, with which he hopes to implement Constitutional
reforms.
Wickremesinghe said that the country has a good opportunity and the
challenge for the people is to help build a good society.
