Yasantha Kodagoda appointed President's Counsel
President Maithripala Sirisena has appointed Additional Solicitor
General Yasantha Kodagoda as a President's Counsel in recognition of his
professional eminence at the Bar.
He had his Primary and secondary education at Ananda College,
Colombo. He completed his legal education at the Sri Lanka Law College
and his Postgraduate degree from the University College London (UCL),
United Kingdom.
He joined the Attorney General's Department as a State Counsel in
February 1989 and later obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Forensic
Medicine and Sciences from the University of Colombo. He also obtained a
Masters Degree (LL.M.) in Public International Law with Merit from the
University College London (UCL).
He was Promoted Senior State Counsel in 1999. He has also functioned
as the Attorney General's Counsel in several Commissions of Inquiry
including the Vijaya Kumaratunga Assassination Commission, Batalanda
Torture Chambers Commission and the Commission to investigate and
inquire into serious violations of Human Rights. |
