Kithuruwan (351) puts Tamil Union on top

Kithuruwan Vithanage made a majestic knock of 351 runs which helped Tamil Union to declare their innings at 650 for eight wickets and then bowl out Air Force for paltry 167 runs on the second day of a Premier League match played at Katunayake yesterday.

Kithuruwan's innings contained 14 sixes and 37 fours in 283 balls, which may be a record in first class cricket.

In reply, the Airmen could not cope with the bowling of Chamikara Edirisinghe (4 for 51), Chanaka Welagedara (3 for 28) and were bundled out for 167 runs. And the following on were 61 for two wickets.

Tamil Union: 650-8 in 109.1 overs (Kithuruwan Vithanage 351, Rumesh Buddika 105, Nisala Tharaka 68, Shaminda Eranga 33 n.o, Dinuk Wickramanayake 32, Pabasara Waduge 21, Sameera Wanigasekara 3-115, Shohan Rangika 3-130)

Ports Authority were in a strong position on the second day of their match played at R Premadasa Stadium yesterday.

In reply to Ports Authority total of 356, Chilaw Marians were bundled out for 226 runs with Shashrika Pussegolla and Kanchana Gunawardene making the identical score of 46 runs.

Malinga Pushpakumara was the wrecker with 6-69.
