Chopper rescues Dutch tourist fallen off World's End

A male Dutch tourist who was hanging off a cliff after falling over the edge of the World's End in Horton Planes was rescued unhurt by a group of airmen yesterday morning, police said.

The tourist who was part of a group visited the site around 9.00am had accidentally fallen off the cliff forcing others to cry for help.

People in the area informed the police who notified an Air Force Bell 212 chopper patrolling the area. The helicopter eventually collected four airmen specialised in rescue operation from its unit in Diyatalawa and rushed to the scene.

Nanu Oya police conducting inquiries was yet to ascertain how the incident took place at the time this edition went to press.
